Pathways Foundation began in 1984 with the goal of equipping parents and medical professionals with the tools to recognize the early signs of a motor delay and inturn expose these children to therapy early on in life, giving them the best possible outcomes. Through the years, many families have benefited from Pathways’ message and the promise of early intervention. These are just some of our major milestones.
Take a look at how far we’ve come:
– Pathways Center, a pediatric therapy clinic, was started in the Chicago area to reach families in the United States with the benefits of NDT therapy.
– Pathway Awareness was founded and the Medical Round Table was formed to provide educational materials and tools to aid in early detection for early motor delays.
- Pathways Awareness created a brochure for parents to track the physical development of their children, and also established the parent-answered help line, 1-800-955-CHILD.

– Early Infant Assessment Redefined, a Pathways Awareness-created video educating medical professionals by comparing the development of two six-month-olds, received a National CINE Golden Eagle award for its educational value.
– Is My Baby OK?, the parent adapted version of Early Infant Assessment Redefined, began airing on over 300 PBS television stations and in print advertisements across the nation

– Pathways Awareness’ first website was created to reach parents and professionals alike on the internet.

– In partnership with Children’s Memorial Hospital, Pathways Awareness conducted a study to determine parents’ knowledge and perceptions about child development, finding that over 80% of parents in the 500-participant survey did not know the early signs of delay in a three-month-old and would not seek treatment at this critical time.

– The Pathways Awareness Medical Round Table set national standards for Tummy Time based on the results of another nationwide survey conducted in partnership with the American Physical Therapy Association and the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association.

– In their 25th year, Pathways Awareness produced a series of online continuing medical education modules for the American Academy of Pediatrics comparing two infants’ development by following them throughout their first year of life.
